Sonography of peripheral lymph nodes part 2: Doppler criteria and typical findings of distinct entities.

چکیده
Doppler sonographic criteria for assessing peripheral lymph nodes ! Introduction B-mode criteria provide the foundation for the sonographic identification of peripheral lymph nodes as normal or pathological and for differential diagnosis. “Sonography of Peripheral Lymph Nodes Part 1: Normal Findings and B-Image Criteria” therefore provides a comprehensive description of the sonographic appearance of normal peripheral lymph nodes in the individual regions of the body and of the B-mode criteria of pathological peripheral lymph nodes [1]. Color/power Doppler and pulsed Doppler sonography is only of secondary importance for the evaluation of peripheral lymphadenopathy compared to B-mode sonography [2]. This requires equipment with high-quality Doppler (color/power Doppler, pulsed Doppler).

Power Doppler sonography of cervical lymph nodes in patients with head and neck cancer.
PURPOSE The purpose of this preliminary study was to evaluate the usefulness of power Doppler sonography in differentiating metastatic from nonmetastatic cervical lymph nodes in patients with cancer. METHODS Histologically proved metastatic (n = 71) and nonmetastatic (n = 220) lymph nodes were examined with power Doppler sonography in 77 patients with head and neck cancer. Power Doppler sonog...
متن کاملبررسی مقایسه ای ارزش تشخیصی سونوگرافی کالر داپلر و معمولی در تعیین بدخیمی لنف نودهای اگزیلاری در بیماران مبتلا به سرطان پستان
Background & Aims: Due to the high incidence of breast cancer, the use of easy, safe, noninvasive and readily available diagnostic procedures that can accurately determine the initial stages of the disease and its spread is very important. Ultrasonography as a method may be able to realize these goals and to help patients and physicians. The aim of this study was to evaluate diagnostic val...
متن کاملContribution of doppler sonography blood flow information to the diagnosis of metastatic cervical nodes in patients with head and neck cancer: assessment in relation to anatomic levels of the neck.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although sonographic evaluation of cervical adenopathy by use of size criteria is effective, the sensitivity and specificity fall short of that required to make adequate judgments regarding neck dissection. Therefore, we tested whether the combined use of size criteria and Doppler sonographic findings would improve the predictive ability for metastatic cervical nodes. M...
متن کاملComparision of the Diagnostic values of Doppler Sonography with Fine Needle Aspiration in Thyroid Nodules
Introduction: Thyroid nodules are frequent occurrences, and whenever diagnosed, it is necessary to rule out of malignancy. Valuable diagnostic methods in this field are sonography and fine needle aspiration. In this study while investigating these two methods, we compared them with postsurgical pathologic findings. Materials and methods: This is a cross sectional, descriptive-analytical study. ...
متن کاملCushing’s syndrome associated with typical, peripheral pulmonary carcinoid tumor and N2 lymph node metastasis: case report
Background: The bronchopulmonary carcinoid tumor accounts for 1-2% of all adult malignancies of the lung and 20-30% of all carcinoid tumors. Cushing’s syndrome is the result of chronic exposure to increased concentration of exogenous or endo-genus cortisol hormone, and it is generally associated with central obesity, metabolic syndrome, and hypertension. Treatment is based on decreasing cortiso...
